recipes worth sharing

Image
I have three main dish recipes for you this month! Also, I thought I should tell you how to make chicken cutlets because they are a staple at my mom's house, but I somehow always forget about them (a true tragedy) and how to make them. So I need to write it down for my own reference anyway. We had them for dinner last week as sandwiches with roasted red peppers and mozzarella cheese on bread (with some of the leftover spicy garlic sauce - see below), and we had them again on Sunday as chicken parmesan. As for the first two recipes, the images belong to the blogger of the recipe as identified below each image.

How Sweet It Is: Honey Mustard Chicken Chopped Salad
This was yummy. It was also a quick and simple prep.

The Cozy Apron: Grilled Lemon Chicken Flatbread Wraps with Spicy Garlic Sauce
This recipe came from my brother, Derek. I made these with pitas instead. The chicken by itself is delicious, but with the sauce, it is even better. Aside from the pitas, …

a baby shower

Image
On Saturday, we showered Aunt Bethany with a celebration for the baby in her belly. We used the cafe space at the school/church where my mom teaches.

Menu: soups and salads, bread, cheese.

Look at adorable little Bethany.

The girls were ready for the presents

with their bingo cards (and m&m markers) in hand.

Bethany's sister-in-law who lives in Nevada made this blanket; she matched our shower colors so well.

We drive by this mailbox on the way to Branchwood. The other day we stopped to take a picture with it. Jesse was even wearing his Snoopy shirt that day, so it was perfect.

On Friday, we helped Uncle Derek surprise Aunt Bethany for her thirtieth birthday. We showed up at Bethany's brother's house to wait for the guest of honor to arrive.

Surprise!

We feasted on soups and paninis.

We checked on our baby cousin (still in-utero, as he/she should be).

We hung out with Liam, Bethany's nephew. (We give him Jesse's hand-me-downs!)

Of course, there was birthday cake!

Happy Birthday, Aunt Bethany! We love you! Thirty will be full of many new things for you!!!

a walk in the woods

Image
On the way home from church on Sunday, we made a detour to Green Lane Park for a hike.

We started on the blue trail, but we quickly took a side trail through the woods towards the water.

a Philadelphia visit

On Saturday, we hung out in the city with Uncle Austin and Aunt Rachel.

We brought our scooters and made our way to a park near their house.

We taught Austin and Rachel how to use the corkscrew climber as a slide.

We played ring-a-round-the-rosie and made a friend.

We wandered back to the house to rehydrate before driving home.

Thanks for the delicious breakfast and playground fun, Uncle Austin and Aunt Rachel! Upon climbing into the car to leave, Heidi declared, "I miss the city." We certainly miss the convenience of the city and all the places to where we can walk. (Driving everywhere is not our favorite pastime.)
