garden: planted

This year, I can properly bend over and squat and kneel to care for a garden as I am neither full term pregnant nor wearing a newborn strapped to my chest. So this year, we're determined to keep the deer out of our garden - and the weeds. The weeds were already overtaking the garden in April.

With a little help from Aaron and the rototiller, we were ready for planting.

On May 23rd, we planted our garden.

We took a break for second breakfast.

Nevermind the mess of lettuce in the front there. The weeds overtook my spinach, so let that be my lesson to do better weeding from here on out.

We planted: tomatoes (roma, striped roma, grape, cherry, yellow), peppers (red, green, yellow, chile, jalepeno, banana), brussel sprouts, cauliflower, green beans, peas, carrots, broccoli, butternut squash, pumpkins, watermelon, cilantro, basil, parsley, zinnias, marigolds. We will have to compare that list to what we actually end up harvesting. The deer, groundhogs, and rabbits may also have a negative effect on that harvesting list despite our best efforts . . .
