Hearts of East Africa: Nez shirts

guest blogger: Lydia

- - -

Nez is getting ready to head to Kenya to setup and work in the ICU after the cardiac surgeries with Hearts of East Africa. So she sent us this year's Nez shirts.

We picked out cool band-aids for Nez to bring with her, so we made a card for Nez to thank her for our shirts and to tell her what to do with them. I signed everybody's names.

And I drew a picture of my family.

(Nez, we have another item to add to this package, but it will be in the mail to you soon!)

chew toy

Anna hasn't yet learned the rule of no touching the mixer. So she just went ahead and tried to chew on it.

I put Anna down on the activity mat, and I found her here.

I think she rolled there.

She always wants to be in on whatever Lydia and Heidi are doing.

Since everything goes in her mouth, I probably need to comb through these toys and rearrange some shelves. I should probably get on that. =)

I'm up from my nap, Mama!

Are you going to stop taking pictures and get me up now?

I'm ready to play!

Play-Doh cousin

My cousin, Keiper, recently discovered a new love - Play-Doh.

He told (and showed) me all about it.

It would be so fun to play Play-Doh with Keiper!

trails and scooters

The weather on Saturday was gorgeous, so we drove over to Fairmount Park for a little trail hiking in the morning.

Then, after naps, we hung out on the stoop with scooters.

Happy Birthday, Aunt Rachel! We got you an apron.

Oops. We were supposed to wait until you opened it to say so. We brought our aprons, too.

To help you make soft pretzels for your birthday party!

And how were the pumpkin chocolate chip squares we made for your party?

happy tuesday

Happy Tuesday evening from this cutie.

two in love: a smitten kitchen bicycle shower

On Saturday, we gathered to celebrate the upcoming nuptials of Chad and Ashley.

Guests tied a tag to a bottle of wine for the bottle of wine wishing well.

Andrea made these fancy bicycles.

And Mia nabbed these sweet plates for their bikes. (Ahem, Ashley's new last name will be Somers.)

Ashley LOVES the Smitten Kitchen blog. So Nicole created the entire menu from Smitten Kitchen recipes.

(I'm so sorry that I'm not a food photographer and that I also forgot to adjust my white balance.)  Everything was delicious.

Here's Ashley enjoying a popsicle in Monica's newly renovated back space.

On to the gifts.

Carolyn found these sweet mugs on Etsy. (Maybe these?)

A signature puddle picture.

Leah whipped up these fun frames with Chad's and Ashley's respective states (Missouri (Chad), California (Ashley), and Pennsylvania (where they met)) with hearts to mark their cities.

Here comes the bride.

A little favor for the road.

We had a great time celebrating you, As…

We transformed last week's pick-your-own blackberries and peaches into some jam yesterday.

Here are my taste testers approving the recipes.

Naturally, we needed something on which to put the jam, so we also whipped up our favorite biscuits and a new recipe we found for English Muffin Bread. Delicious!
